Workforce Development Grant Program Overview

This program is funded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Section 13007 (Workforce Development, Training, and Education). The purpose of this program is to build a robust, skilled, and diverse energy workforce across Nevada by ensuring equitable access to training, certification, and career opportunities particularly for residents in under-resourced communities.

Eligible Entities

  • Institutions of higher education
  • Small contractors supporting energy industry 
  • Nonprofit entities
  • Workforce Boards

Eligible Project/Topic Areas

1) Topic Areas for Institutions of higher education

  • Tuition reimbursement and scholarship program for existing and new training

  • Establishment of new training and certification program(s) in the energy field 

  • Expansion of existing programs in energy efficiency resulting in increased student enrollment e.g. additional equipment, desks etc.   

2) Topic Areas for Small Contractors supporting the energy industry

  • Creation of programs to up-skill workforce: Training and Certifications: BPI, RESNET, NATE, Excellence, ASHRAE, other certifications may qualify after GOE approval 

3) Topic Areas for Nonprofit entities

  • Marketing of available training programs in Nevada supporting the energy sector

  • Provide pathways for underrepresented groups, veterans, and workers from under-resourced communities through the provision of wrap around services such as tools, personal protective equipment, food, housing, and childcare.  

4) Topic Area for Workforce Boards

  • Establishment of new training and certification of programs in the energy field

  • Expansion of existing training programs in the energy efficiency resulting in increased registration e.g. additional equipment, desk, etc.

  • Provide pathways for underrepresented groups, veterans, and workers from under-resourced communities through the provision of wraparound services such as tools, personal protective equipment, food, housing, and childcare.

Awardee Obligations

  • Must sign agreement with GOE
  • Must provide monthy progress reports
  • Must provide monthly progress updates via phone and email with program manager as needed
  • Must provide documentation of project expenditures (i.e. invoices and proof of payment)
  • Must submit payment request within 30 days of completing the project/activity
